Bentley OpenComms Designer Help

Single Review

When working in graphics mode, the designer may review the signal levels to see why a device worked or failed, what pad/eq was used and all other design calculations. OpenComms provides the Single Review command to do this. If multiple spec files were used in the design, Single Review reads the design specs, 'on the fly', without having to reload the different spec files.

To review the database information for any Coax feature click the Single Review command from the Review/Locate section of the Coax Tab:

This command allows the user to click and select a device and review all of its information in the database. The frequency level information is of particular importance. For a multiple output device, the first page of levels represents the device’s inputs. For a single output device, the levels represent the outputs of the device.

All Coax features can be assigned custom attributes in OpenComms and are reviewed or updated by selecting the More button in any OpenComms review dialog box…but only if custom attributes have been created for that feature type in the OpenComms database.

Note: For all self-terminating taps, the levels displayed represent the input of the tap.

Multiple output devices such as amps and splitters have multiple pages. The first page represents the inputs while each succeeding page represents the outputs. For amps, there is an additional page detailing the amp internals.

Some fields of the database can be edited directly from this review dialog. For example, a cable’s length or a tap’s drop code can be manually changed.
